On May 23, 2025, the U.S. Department of Labor announced the appointment of five new officials to the Wage and Hour Division (WHD). This team, comprising an acting administrator and four policy advisors, is responsible for upholding labor standards and ensuring worker protections nationwide.
Donald M. Harrison III has been appointed Acting Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division (WHD), effective April 1, 2025. Harrison brings experience from the Alabama Department of Workforce, where he served as general counsel and deputy secretary.
The newly appointed policy advisors include Caroline Brown, W. Glenn Viers, Garrett Buttrey, and Dana M. Deason. Brown, formerly with Fisher & Phillips LLP, specializes in federal and state wage laws. Viers has three decades of experience in labor compliance from his role at Hillstone Restaurant Group Inc. Buttrey, with a background as chief counsel for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, brings legislative insight. Deason contributes over twenty years of private-sector experience in labor relations and human resources compliance.
